Recitation for Scór

Thinking to go back to Scór with my club. I did recitation in Scór na bPaisti when I was younger so I have some idea of the ropes. However, I'm confused as to how strict the rules on pieces can be.

I'm thinking to do Bridies' Christening for my piece, but how contemporary can pieces be before being discarded? And what's the deal on well known pieces - I did Pride of the Village one year and wasn't taken to the next level as the judges felt it was too well known.

Any tips, I'd really appreciate them.
