Currently driving 3.0litre petrol 07. With my annual milage I am estimating I will save 2-3k per year by switching to a 3l diesel. (Fuel + tax savings.)

    I'm looking for a 3.0l coupe/saloon with 230+ bhp. Tax no more than €750.

F30 Bmw 330d looks to be the best engine €280 with 258bhp but it would be me eating all my savings. I'm interested to see if there's something in the 08-12 bracket that would fit the bill and save the pocket.

    mercedes c350 cdi be
    Jag xf 3.0
    A6 3.0 TDI Quattro
    2012> Chrysler 300c

Then you have the various 5 series and 3 series 25d 30d 35d stuff

Any reason why it has to be 3 litre? Are you looking for a certain level of power/torque or 6 cylinder attributes?

Lexus hybrid might fit the bill in a way.

Audi A6 3.0 TDi from 2011 is €280 but you will still pay a large premium for one because of that.

Mix of all 3. Ideally Sub 6 seconds 0-60 and 1/4 mile <15secs.
If there's a 2.5 diesel 6 pot out there that fits the bill I'd absolutely be open to it.

Is that 3.0 tdi engine in anything other than the A6? 4 door A5 S-line would be ideal.

At the €280 tax bracket the vrt rathe would be lower for a UK import (don't expect to find much in the republic meeting the criteria)

A good way to find suitable stuff is on autotrader.co.uk. You can filter by 0-60 time and by emissions/fuel type

A5 Sportback is available with the same 3.0 TDi as the A6. You need Quattro in both though as the V6 lump is too heavy for the front wheel drive versions. You will also struggle to get that power down through the front wheels.

not enough options on autotrader to filter properly eg. 0-60mph:
    0-5 seconds
    0-8 seconds

Filter 0-8 seconds, then sort by lowest to highest.

BMW 535d surely? Its a 3.0 twin turbo diesel. I think the tax is about €750. Quick cars.

Another vote for the 335/535/635d engine. Thirsty but Jesus they shift. €750 per annum.
