Can anyone make out the Latin inscriptions at the top of this headstone?
Apart from the Crucifixion, any idea what the other carved images represent?

    thanks

My take - The two angels probably represent Michael and Gabriel , messenger angels, so they signify bringing the message / the call to heaven. The figure with the trumpet on the right probably again represents Archangel Michael blowing his trumpet, calling the faithful to Judgement on the Last Day.The skeleton is a reminder that life must end, dust to dust, etc. - this is borne out by the wording - “Remember Deth “ below the skeleton and “Arise ye ded come to judg” below the trumpeter.
    Unusually allegorical for 1820's.

    Many, many thanks Pedro.

It is quite a decorative headstone for the period!

It is a nice stone, and an expensive one. There is a cockerel also, which signifies 'awakening, courage and vigilance' and - it looks like - a chalice. There also is some writing at the top corners - perhaps the stonemason's name?

I will go to see it next time in the area.

Is the white diagonal line lichen or something else? Many of the older headstones are covered in white lichen making the inscriptions very difficult to read.
