Have seen her in person and I would say she is 'rather tall.'

Or, for the pedants among you, about 5 foot 10.

It's terrible! She has beautiful eyes, and her hair smells like cinnamon.

Successful from her point of view. She's a nice big ministerial pension to look forward to.

She rose to be leader of her party and deputy leader of the country.

You might not like what she did, but as a politician that's pretty successful.

Why does anyone care how tall she is?

I rate my politicians on how they perform in office.

Absolutely not, to leave a legacy and to better the country she serves is what makes a successful politician
I'm 44 yo and have always voted Labour until this past election, it would have turned my stomach to vote for her party and her pandering to FG. The day she is booted out is a great day for Labour and don't you make any mistake about that

I would define that as a 'good politician' not a 'successful politician'.

Regardless, how do her looks, her voice, or her height affect that? Which was my point, as I think was clear.

No, you aren't clear, in fact, you're anything but.

Fine. Please explain to me why a politician should be criticised for their looks, their voice and their height?

What a weird question, esp as I haven't made any such reference to your good self

??? I'm not a politician, so why would the question be about me?

This thread started off about Joan Burton's height and quickly became a criticism about her looks. Many others criticise her voice. My point is that she's a politician. People should feel free to judge her politics (and if they, as you do, take issue with her failings in politics, then that's fine). But criticising her appearance is childish.

I have criticised her politically, I have also said I shan't vote Labour again until she has gone.
Now, as someone who has voted Labour for 25 years....maybe that should tell you something about her political legacy

And I have absolutely no problem with that criticism. I just don't see why she should consistently, venomously be attacked for her appearance and voice. Things that have absolutely no bearing on how she does her job.

Again, why are you addressing me, I've made no previous mention of her voice or her height?

You quoted me first? Post 11.

You then told me I was being unclear in the point I was trying to make, so I clarified it. I never said that you criticised her appearance. I said that I didn't think it was fair for people to use that kind of criticism against her.

    Feel better now?

Yes, about her not being a successful politician! I made no mention of her height and voice, and yet you still persist in using that as some kind of argument, perhaps you should have addressed the fact that she has failed her party, and her country and would not be considered a successful politician in anyone's book. Then i might feel better

You don't like Joan Burton, I get it. We all get it. I don't give a shíte either way about what she did to the Labour party. Never been a Labour voter, probably never will be a Labour voter. I'm not defending her political record, only the fact that people shouldn't slag off politicians for their looks.

I've never suggested you criticised her appearance, but you keep responding to me, so I keep responding to you. That's the way discussion works. But it is completely derailing this thread, so I suggest that if you want to keep telling me I'm misquoting you, you take it to PM.

    But you're not debating anything!
My reply was to state that she is not a successful politician, and you kept on about people shouldn't slag her about her looks ...
That seemed to be the only think you could say...perhaps you should look up the meaning of the word debate and give us all a rest from your nonsensical posts
