6 week old calf has a problem with her back legs/end. When walking her back end leans to the right to the point that she almost falls. Other than this the calf is doing well, calf has no problem buck leaping her two back legs out at same time. Any ideas?

Personally I think that you should ask your vet to have a look at her.

We had similar here years ago. Big heifer calf who was hard pulled from the cow, we got the vet and he said it was dislocated joints from the pull. The oul boy got a bone setter fella and he done his thing, calf was grand after.

Doubt a six week old calf would go unnoticed with dislocated hips.

Should have read it properly, thought he said 6 day old.

Sounds like it might be a neurological problem, control rather than muscle/joints. If it's a recent thing I'd talk to your vet soon in the hopes of redeeming the situation.

I was thinking it might be neurological, was googling the symptoms and it would scare you, everything from meningitis to Bse. Will get vet out this week.

I think I have one of them here at the minute. She wasn't right from a calf vet came out give her a few shots but wasn't that sure what was the problem. Has your got bad sight?
Mine is now 24 months I left her out all winter giving her a handful of meal. Now the grass is coming she is starting to shine and flesh up. She has bad sight and sometimes she will take the staggers. But I hope she will finish now she has lasted this long.

She looks quite happy there in herself alright! :) Seems to be holding her back legs under herself a bit though, better stability maybe?

Update on my heifer she went to the mart today. 540kg 875stg (1100 euro). The quietest animal you could have walked to pen no prob. I put her in the crush reversed up the trailer then went to load her.
She came out of crunch and drive me through wall of pen no damage luckly. It just shows you can't trust any of them. I will put pics up of damage to pen tomorrow.

    Thankfully no damage to you.
Over the years of keeping livestock the quiet ones can be the most dangerous when put in a stressful situation.
Good result and hopefully she is lucky for the new owner.

I'd say she will be swinging next week and leave a turn for them. I know if I had showed her and said nothing I would have got at least 100 more. But I wasn't for taking her home are the morning I had
