What was the best year in WWF/E?

I am currently watching a best of style show on the network. It was aired on Raw on New Years eve of 2001 and it reminded me just how amazing that year was.

Incredible matches, amazing PPV events topped with the best of all time at Mania x7. The only gripe I have with the year is how they handled the Invasion angle which could have been done much better.

    Your favourite year?

My favourite was 1997, whether it was the best or whether it was just because of my age I don't know.

For me it'd be the '97/'98 period.

If memory serves me correctly this was the year Raw moved to 2 hours and it was Hart foundation v Stone Cold for most of the year.

    I agree. Great year

    1992.

    Oh interesting choice. Why 92?

2006 personally, though that might be nostalgia since I started watching WWE back then, after Robot Wars on a Sunday morning.

1997. The period from mid-late1996 through to WM 14 in March 98 was just insane. And obviously alot of that period was 1997 :P

2002 for me. Every PPV that year was excellent. Survivor Series was one of the best PPVS ever.

    1997
Heel Bret and the Hart foundation
The real bad blood between HBK and Bret
    Rise of Stone Cold
    Stone Cold vs Bret
The great interviews Foley did with JR that introduced the 3 faces of Foley
    Canadian Stampede
First HIAC match (my own personal favourite WWE match)

    I love the year 2000.

The Rock as the top babyface - an absolute star; it was great watching him on Saturday mornings on Sky.

Triple H as a heel was phenomenal at this point.

Commissioner Foley - probably my favourite babyface authority figure.

Stone Cold's return and the 'who ran over Austin?' storyline with Austin on a rampage, interfering in matches and stunning everybody.

Kurt Angle emerging as a star and cutting some hilarious promos.

Taker returning as the American Badass and raising hell.

The 6 man Hell in a Cell to finish the year and so on.

Besides 2000 and other years already mentioned in this thread, I think 2012 was a great year for WWE.

    - The Shield's debut
    - Brock Lesnar's return
    - Rebirth of NXT
    - Daniel Bryan in general
    - RAW 1000
    - The build-up to Rock vs. Cena was awesome
