    Hi there
Hope someone can help having a problem with lambs dropping like flies. They are two weeks old approx inside in an airy house. Given streptamicen as they are born against ecoli.
I have seen them suck in the morning and running around the house came back a few hours later and they are just not looking right and no matter what treatment seem to die before my eyes.
Head is wreaked any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Are the ewes vaccinated, clostridial diseases are very quick.
I'd be getting the dead ones to the lab any way......being public service they won't be open till god knows when unfortunately :(

Mate you need to talk to your vet and getta few lambs sent to lab on Tuesday. Only thing for it. If they are born into a clean environment, getting a bellyfull of colostrum and getting the navel sprayed with strong iodine, you can do nothing else for them between now and then. Don't torture yourself about it until you know what you are up against. Hope it
slows up in next few days.

Just got results from lab after a horiffic month it transpires that the heptavac p did not work and am running at 60% mortality in the lambs

That is horrific, surely it must to more that just heptavac not working at loses that high

Nobody would lose 60% even if you never used it

Has the vet been on site?

You wouldn't even lose 60% if you never looked at the ewes.

Sorry to hear that horse mad. Something wrong there. Many s farm never used hep prevention and never had loses like that. Has vet being on site? You need to try find out the reason before you go through all the work for next year.

Mind yourself more importantly. At least everything is outside

Tetanus was a problem in a particular shed here before. Get them out of it. I can't offer any other advise only add to the sentiments of others. The trouble isn't really bad as long as it stops at the back door and once you get over these few weeks the losses get buried in the mind very quick. Skinning lambs to foster them is highly effective if you can locate spares or have any tribs.
