    Hi,

I hope this is the right place for this.

We are in the middle of digger work to clear our garden, is it possible to get a one off burning permit to burn all the dead bushes/trees that are being cleared away?

Sorry if that's a silly question, thanks 😊

Not sure but think you are allowed burn bushes anyway even without a permit

Don't think you are right there. It's very easy get a permit. google your county council burning permit, and print off the form. Fill it in and post. You'll get a letter back confirming all ok, then you ring the fire service before you start the fire and when it has finished again.

The main thing would to ensure that you can manage the fire. Ie you don't want it spteading!

Are you in a town or rural location? Maybe notify any near neighbours in case they go calling out the fire brigade or complaining about the smoke! Take note of prevailing winds and burn on a calm dry day.

AFAIK permits for burning scrub/tree tops are only available to farmers.

Thank you all for your replies!

I just looked that form up online and it does say you have to be a farmer unfortunately.

Get a shredder from your local hire shop. One of the manhandleable ones with the 13hp petrol engines will handle anything up to three inch dia. I've seen them reduce what was covering a suburban back garden of the cuttings you described into what will fit in a builders trailer. If you can collect it yourself fifty quid plus the fuel and vat should cover it.

Thanks so much for your reply. Unfortunately its in the middle of the country and very large! 😊
I might just ask around and see if somebody can take it away for a fee. Might be easier!

Not being smart but get bigger shredder. Trailed jobs will take full grown trees apart. Pile will be much smaller after shredder. Even if you are getting it moved it will pay you to have it shredded.
