Usually come up around January and July new registration periods, some offering up to €4k at the moment.

Yep it's usually the months coming up to the registration change that you see the manufacturer's scrappage deals as they want the order books filled for market share. So next one would be May or June for the 1st July 162 registration change. After that your are looking at November and December for the 171 reg. Some of them extend the scheme to the end of February or March.

Thanks a mil guys, only just started looking at my options. Found what i think is the car for me but I'd rather not rush this decision for the end of March, going from a 12 year old car to a new one is a big deal! I'll hold out for the next time the scrappage comes up :)

I think Nissan are still doing it until the end of the month.

I'm sort of similar to the op. Thinking of a new car but not ready or rushing for the end of March. But will there really be no deals to be had between April and June?

I would nearly have thought the dealers would be desperate to do a deal on a 161.

Fyi I was thinking of a ibiza / fabia / i20 maybe. Trading in a 08 mondeo titanium x 2 liter petrol. Was hoping to get close to 30% trade in off one of the aforementioned cars but maybe I'm being unrealistic?

New car sales are up nearly 40% on this time last year so dealers are far from desperate, in some cases like the Hyundai Tuscon there is a backlog of orders because of their popularity.

Also you would be wanting a bit more than 4k max from a dealer for a 08 Mondeo.

Unfortunately Hyundai offer ended on March 16th. It had been extended month on month at the end of November, December, January and February.

    Cheers Bazz.

I was sort of hoping for a bit more than 4k alright Between 5 - 6k I guess. I was thinking of the Ibiza FR / Fabia Style / i20 Deluxe so closer to around 19k rrp.

Anyway, might try to get to a few dealers this week, but really not set yet as have to do some things still (like get car nct'd).

I think you need to forget about the scrappage deals as that 4k is maximum against the likes of a Tucson that costs in the high 20k. You should concentrate on getting the best price for your Mondeo against the likes of a new i20, I'd be looking for around 4.5k for a 08 Mondeo against a 19k car like an Ibiza FR.
