Insurance claims abroad?

Last summer I was in a 3 car collision Near Liverpool in the UK. I was the car in front and got a car pushed into me from someone that failed to stop. Everyone was fine but I had a bit of bumper damage. The other party admitted full liability.

I rang up my insurance company (No Nonsense) and asked them for advice on what to do. They basically told me as I was third party and not at fault they want nothing to do with it. So I went though the other parties insurance company to get my bumper fixed.

I was on the phone to my insurance company the other day and out of curiosity I asked them if there are any claims on the system for me. I was told that they had a record of my call but there was no claim so It will not affect my no claims bonus.

When it comes to insure again and I shop around. would you tell the other company of a non at fault accident that happened in another country?

Yeah do tell them but it won't be recorded, we ask about all claims but don't record non fault claims, just make sure you disclose it.

You have to record everything a policyholder discloses to you for his protection. If you take no action with that information, that is a totally different thing

It'll be recoded on the phone call but it doesn't have to be noted down on his quote at all.

If I was a policyholder, I wouldn't accept that. It is a material fact (rightly ignored for the purposes of providing a fair quotation) but if it is not on the statement of fact, it could be used against me in the future.
