cow getting slow

    Hi I have a 2.5 yr old hereford cow with a 9 wk old limousin heifer calf,cow has gotten slow the last few days and is very slow in standing up when sitting,any ideas anyone?

    Have you checked for mastitis?

    Check for mastitis. Be careful and put in the crush to do that.

    In the crush. Check is any quarter swollen or hard. Draw the teats and see are there any curds in the milk.
    Mind you don't get a broken wrist. Can't be too careful with these ladies. Ask Michael Healy Rae.

    Shouldn't have milk fever at this stage. Maybe vet tomorrow? Does she have access to mineral lick?

    No offence shanemc123 but you seem a little inexperienced and given the value of a cow I think you'd be best investing in a proper veterinary diagnosis.
