Lapse in insurance cover

    I extremely stupidly did not realise that my car insurance had lapsed by two weeks. I've since received a quote and policy from a different insurance company than I had been using, but I've been sent a document to fill in asking for a reason for the two week lapse in my insurance cover.

    I'm quite skeptical about what I should fill in on the document...is forgetting to renew insurance a valid reason?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Should be OK. When there is a gap in cover, Insurers need to sure you are not taking out cover again just because you have been stopped by the Gardai or had an accident. If you have, you'll be giving them grounds for misrepresentation and they can void the policy
