What was this Movie?

    Hello Everyone

    I remember seeing this movie with my mother when I was young but I'm not too sure what year I saw it or what year it came out.

    It was about the murder of a young girl who was found in a river with a nightgown on. Previously to that was a birthday Party. I think it might have been a true crime movie.

    I also remember the mother having red wavy hair tied up in a sort of bun.

    There was a scene in court where a man/father was explaining how she drowned and the mother stood up and said "no he's lying!"

    If anyone knows what this might be, please let me know.
