Leaking expansion tank (?) - any suggestions?

I heard something dripping and found the floor of the cupboard where our hot water tank goes full of water. There's a brown sludgy water coming from the base of the expansion tank. Anything I can do about it other than wait until a plumber can come check it out?

turn off the water supply from your booster pump and turn the power off to the pump , this is the vessell for the unvented cylinder by the looks of it . the last thing you want is the leak to get out of control

Thanks dude, I honestly cannot see how to turn off the water to/from the tank. Presumably I should not continue to heat the water overnight? I've found the leak at the bottom and have tried blocking with insulation tape, doesn't seem to work :-P Any suggestions on what would work?

You can't repair these vessels once they leak , they need to be replaced . Best get a plumber sooner rather than later

And yes, don't heat the water. Heating the water causes it to expand, and seeing as your expansion vessel is bust, the expanded water will put serious pressure on an already damaged vessel.
