So the mother feeds Robins, buys them mealworms and all sorts. Been doing it years spent fortunes raising broods for them. So she was delighted when a new couple had their first lay two weeks ago. Hatched few days ago 3 chicks. She gets up this morning and the chicks are all dead scattered about the garden, not eaten. She thinks another male Robins come in and emptied the nest. Is this common among Robins?.

Not sure whether other males would do this although very territorial. Magpie perhaps?

Could a cuckoo have done that, or is it the wrong season for them?

She's positive that another male came along and swept the mother off her feet and took her away cause there was only one Robin left and she reckons it's the original male. I've no heart to tell her she's more than likely dead by whatever killed the chicks. He has since got himself another partner so all good. They're building as we speak.

Maybe the new female is at fault for the carnage. Previous female KIA :(.
