In the calendar for Sunday, anyone have any information on it other than the paltry info on the Ossory website? Is it going ahead?

Couple of our lads are going down, haven't heard any suggestion about it not going ahead.

Finish seems to be where their club league race finishes but from the other side.

Ossory always run a good show, I'd be surprised if this isn't one as well.

A well run race, absolutely brutal weather though.

A lad had a bad accident during the sprint for the a4 race, hopefully he recovers well.

Did the A4 myself , miserable conditions ,i was poorly positioned on the left coming in for the sprint so decided to give it a miss , rolled in chatting to another lad , the sprint finished we were about 200m out and some plonker sprinting for 28th place wiped me out , broke my helmet , my shoes destroyed my kit ripped my saddle off the bike , I am still wondering why on earth he was sprinting as the race was over , we were all just rolling in .
I did see the lad at the finish line , he looked in a bad way .

A very ordinary looking course on paper made quite difficult by the weather conditions. Well done Ossary for a well run event.

A break of two went up the road early in the A3 race and nothing much else happened until halfway through the second lap when a few others got off in one's and two's and got across. The bunch starting riding behind again at that stage or it was looking like race over. A small group of 5 of us got a gap chasing and bridged over. The chase from the bunch then died behind and the gap went out. 10 up the road all rode through honestly. A Swords rider went for a flier with 2km to go and I followed suit. The Swords rider held on for a win, very strong last 2km, while I was caught in the last 100m by the break. Couple of more points, a bit closer to the Shay Elliott.

It should be drilled into fellas that pointless sprinting like that is lunacy, it's a dangerous enough sport without having to deal with some hero going for 27th place.

It was before the race. The commasaire warned everyone before the race unless you were in top 10/15 not to getting involved in the sprint as you'd only end up hurting yourself and others.

Yep for sure , like at the start of most races they said today " if you're not within the top 15 approaching the line , don't sprint " what's the point , the lad that hit me was in a heap too . What did he gain ?

I take your point and that's fair enough but I've seen it too many times, it shouldn't just be the commissaries having to tell fellas it. Common sense or self police it among riders, adrenalin is a factor and all that but clubs should be pulling fellas on it too

You see it every weekend I'm afraid no matter how many times you pull lads up about stupid unsafe crap in races they just shrug the shoulders and keep going only way they learn is by hitting the deck but that normally means some poor innocent gets taken out also as we saw today

There was a specific warning from the commissaire before the start of the A4 race,
he said "if you're not involved in the top 20 stay out of the sprint and sit up".

Last week I was beaten into "19th" spot in Loughrea by some fellow sprinting his heart out for ...18th? . You know when you're out of the race and should just sit up and roll over the line safely.
I hope that guy who had the fall 200m from the finish is ok, he was still on the ground and being attended to 10 mins after the crash, one of the guys said he'd been switched in the sprint for the line.

I was just behind him when he came down managed to avoid him from what I saw he touched wheels there was no real switch from the rider in front just one of those things unlucky for him today hope he recovers ok

In the A3 race there was a marshal at 250m roaring at the bunch coming in that all the places were gone. Good idea.

I was at the finish line today for both races. The lad who hit the deck hard was'nt anywhere in the top 15 when he went down.Whether or not he was sprinting for 20th place I could'nt tell from where I was standing at the line.He was 10 minutes on the road before he was moved. The marshalls moved the finish of the ladies race back 300 metres as the rider was still on the road when they approached.Reports from the marshalls is the chap has a broken collerbone or similar.I also saw he had a cut chin.None the less,I hope he makes a quick recovery.I saw him being given a lift back to the gaa club in a van with a gold foil blanket around him.

Before his crash, there looked to be a big swerve around the 300 meter mark,I'm not sure if there was an incident there too??

And last but not least,a marshal told me a lad got hit by a car after the race as he was heading back to the gaa club.True or not I dont know.

I was in the A4 today and was involved in the sprint at the end, I didn't see the crash as it happened behind me. the rider didn't look good on the road at the end, hope he recovers quickly.

Its always a shock to the system seeing these things. On the way back to the gaa club another rider was knocked down by a car right on front of me!

Well run event by ossory cc and despite the weather I really enjoyed it. The finish was seriously fast, I maxed at 69.8kph in the sprint!

True unfortunately. One of our riders, an off duty Garda, stopped to assist at the scene.

Rider that hit after the finish was from Newcastle West. Fractured leg I was told afterwards by another club member,

From strava, its the A4 race

" Wet and windy, hand numb, feet too, 300 metres from line, hit huge cat' s eye, hands went flying, chest was on handlebars, then veered left into kerb and steel railing at speed. I'm extremely lucky, nothing broken, just plenty of blood and rash. More lessons learned. Good race otherwise. "

Seriously unfortunate incident, on the spin back to the club house. I won't say too much - this one could end up in a different forum to adjudicate on the actions of the driver!

Yea I heard that chap just behind me was at the junction rattled the cats eye from what I heard then that unmistakable sound of carbon hitting Tarmac glad to hear no bones broken

Just that it was me that he hit rather than steel railings .
I'm feeling really sore this morn ,and am missing a fair amount of skin . I gave the bike a good check over and there appear to be no cracks which is always a good thing .
These things happen , we have to learn and move on , there are risks every time we race , no matter how safe you try to be yourself there are things that happen which are out of your control .
I had a bit of a chat on strava with the lad who hit me and everything is cleared up .he has no serious injuries either which is a good thing . We live to race another day .

Well done. Our lad has a serious engine alright. You'll definitely make the Shay.
