The first group meeting is a kind of "information day" filling you in about what's going to happen next
You will be given details of your upcoming one to one weekly sessions with your own personal job coach
You will have to attend every week, compiling a cv, covering letter, discussing your approach to interviews, how to conduct yourself at interviews, how to search for work etc
The job coach actually arranges interviews for you, you attend, if you don't get the job then they look for feedback from the potential employer and your next session will be working on the feedback
. It's quite intense but a lot of people I know are at least getting interviews out of it
It can do wonders for your confidence

Thanks for the detailed answer. I just have another question or 2 if you don't mind.

How long did the group session go on for ? What are the job coaches like ?

Group session is usually a couple of hours
The "mentors" are very upbeat helpful can do
It really depends on you. The pressure is really going to be on you now to job search
They are private firms contracted to SW and they have targets to meet
A friend of mine was sent for an interview for a job he didn't really fancy
In fairness he's not really motivated to find a job
He has it sweet really happy to live at home which is very cosy picking up his 188 every week
Anyway he deliberately have short uninterested answers at the interview
Of course he didn't get the job
At the next meeting with his mentor she already had the feedback from the interviewer who said that he did an awful interview showed no interest mumbled answers etc
Now there bringing him in for hours at a time to practice answering questions, sit up straight etc
    He's furious
    Oh well

What I find counterproductive is you are ineligible for everything else while you are on jobpath, such as CE schemes, job-bridge etc. While job-bridge is far from perfect at least it can provide people with some experience.

CE Scheme and Tus you are ineligible for once you start on Jobpath unless you had a confirmed start date prior to your referral. You are still eligible for JobBridge and Enterprise but both need to make sense - stacking shelves for 9 months internships dont make sense especially if you have skills or experience that you can get work with!

If you have the skills, experience or qualifications for work that is out there they will help you get into a job - a paid job. Screw schemes where you work for free!

Full-time work is what they want to help you get. The longer you stay in a job the more money they get so they try to find work that you will stick at. My advisor is sound and explained all this too me.

The majority of people giving out about them don't want to work and thats that. My experience to date has been great. I have a structured plan in place for applying to certain jobs I want and am getting help with cover letters and interview prep etc. I wish to god they were around years ago.

yep was a short time job that he said and we don't do business with those guys
You have to apply for long term jobs he said
Work for 7 years with the agency got from time to time a lot of work from them
But I going to do what I say in the topic above I'm going to that job and will see what he want to do about it

They don't do business with them but you do. There has to be something wrong with that, telling you to turn down short term job so you can stay with them longer.

If this doesn't stink of them trying to get money out of each person they place into a job, i don't know.
