Well, I don't claim to be an expert, but to me it's always tasted like coffee.

It's not something you can describe, you have to taste it.

It is an acquired taste. I remember my mam gave me a cup at my request when I was 15. Hated it. Only started to drink it when working 60 hour weeks. Force drank the first 3 or 4 espressos then was hooked.

Have a coffee first thing every morning, but then it's tea, tea, tea, all the live-long day.

Try it OP, there's only one way to find out if you like it.

anything like those café noir biscuits as I really like them. is it worth trying a cup or should I keep away since I stayed away this long?

Depends on the type of coffee & how it's been made. Some coffee can taste nutty, some chocolatey, others fruity (not talking about frappuccinos!). The flavour can be blow your head off robust or delicately subtle. Huge number of varieties out there. Pretty much the only advice I can give you is don't drink instant - that tastes sh1te.

Bitter, or if in a styrofoam cup, like a D4 male shopping with his jumper off but held by the sleeves around his neck.

    before addiction

chest infection phlegm with a hint of a used tea bag

    after addiction

sweat nectar of honey bees with novocaine and hot milk.

or maybe just less milky tea :D

I don't drink coffee. Don't like the taste of it. I go for tea with some whipped cream or a dash unsweatened almond milk.

Like roasted cocoa beans, that have been blended... and then put in hot water to infuse.

I recently got tea in a hotel bar in Dublin. When I asked the barmaid for whipped cream, she looked at me as if I had 2 heads. She asked "where are you from" I said Meath, She said "Oh that explains it"

I'd recommend that you don't drink tea and don't drink coffee.... but cover your chin in Yorkshire toffee...

The only way to know, is to try it yourself...it doesn't really have one particular food or drink to compare it with. If you sit and inhale the aroma, you can get a sense of what it's like.

It tastes like it smells. Putrid.

Heroin wasn't that great the first time either.

"What do you have to lose?" Freedom, by the sound of a lot replies above! Coffee seems to enslave anyone who succumbs to it. They then use is as an excuse for not being able to do anything first thing in the morning, as well as it being almost some sort of fashion accessory.

Okay, in case you can't read between the lines, I'll tell it like it is: I'm not a fan of coffee.

In fairness tea with whipped cream sounds bizarre

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I had a coffee Cadburys Rose sweet about 25 years ago. Have never tasted the drink because of it!

I know someone who likes chocolate, but won't drink hot chocolate, eat chocolate cake, chocolate ice cream, chocolate sauce etc.

Same person loves coffee cake, coffee sweets, coffee ice cream, but can't stand coffee!

    Coffee is lovely.

    Coffee chocolates are rotten.

If I ever get admitted to hospital and have to have a blood transfusion they will have to find someone with 'blood type Java' to donate to me.

I love coffee. I drink a lot of coffee. I get headaches if I go 24 hours without coffee..
