From Illness benefit to JSA ???

Quick question: my o\h became unable to work due to neck problems in 2014.
While she was out of work on illness benefit, redundancy became available to her which she took as she knew she wouldnt be able to carry out her old line of work anymore with her neck issues.
She payed off our loans and that was that for the redundancy.
Now her 2 years on the illness benefit is nearing an end she will be applying for disability allowance \ invalidity.
If she isnt accepted for either of these, does she still have her 9 months job seekers allowance to claim as she never went on that after finishing in her employment, she was on and stayed on illness benefit.

If anyone can help on this we'd be really grateful.

If you are referring to job seekers benefit (9 months)the answer is no.
see her if invalidity/disability claim is refused http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/unemployed_people/jobseekers_allowance.html

    Thanks for the reply.
Shes interested in doing a social care course Fàs or Solace are advertising which is approx 1 year long.
If she were able to get on that course would she still receive a payment of any sort ?

    Thanks again

Don't get that if she is declared for for work why would she not be a job seeker and eligible for job seekers allowance?

Hi there I think the poster is saying if she was declared fit for work and not eligible for invalidity the she may be eligible for job seekers allowance.
Unfortunately job seekers allowance is means tested and I reckon my earnings would be too high for her to qualify for that.
Thats why Im asking the question regarding the course she'd like to do in Solase which it says illness benefit payees are eligible to do...if she were to do it would she continue on her payment eventhough she'll be on it 2 years in June ?

But if she has adequate prsi contributions and is declared fit for work she should be able to go on job seekers benefit and not allowance. I don't understand the reply from the other poster it doesn't make sense. Call citizens info and ask them to clarify OP.

As far as i know after 2 years on illness benefit you can not claim JSB ie you have used up your stamps.(I could be wrong of course)

She may qualify for jobseekers benefit if she is declared fit for work. It would depend if through her illness benefit claim she is receiving credited contributions and she has a certain number of paid contributions two years prior to 2014. She needs to call into her local office and ask.
