    Hello,

i changed the Fuel Filter in my mark 6 (2013 reg but 2012 Mark 6 van) 1.6 TDI golf, but the car is not starting, i tried opening up the filter up again and topped it up with diesel, but i think it was too late, the air lock was there when i opened it up first.

the engine did start for about 5 seconds at first, probably using remaining fuel in line.
Ive tried turning on and off the ignition loads of times, and tried turning the engine over several times but no joy

so as my golf is a van , its not easy to get to the fuel pump which is under the back seats and i cant see the aux pump terminals at the engine.

Does anyone have a VCDS software and lead i could borrow? or i will rent it off you (leave a deposit if necessary)

sounds like this is only a 1 or 2 minute job to prime the pumps on VCDS

i am in Cork , but i can travel to you (in other car!) if possible before easter?

    please PM me

    Thanks:)

i could be wrong but when you turn on the key you can hear the pump running for a few seconds. Do this 20/30 times and it should prime it up

I do here something buzzing for about 2 seconds , but I've been looking at a few specialist websites and they say that for the last of the mark 6 golf's the fuel pump only works once you turn the engine over.which would make sense because when opened up the fuel filter top and looked in the bowl , it had got fuel.

I'm going to try removing the fuel line that returns from the HPFP and use vacuum pump

She firing again, hooked up vacuum pump to line 4 (bottom line) from the filter and turned on ignition and fuel come out of line 4, I had clothes around the filter so I was lucky. She didn't start, then I did the same with line 3 and after about 5 seconds , she started and never stopped.

    Thanks to all that helped

Get the VCDS a lot easier to work, VAGCANPRo is a good tool also
