VW Polo 97 emissions failed high idle and lamba sensor

    emissions failed high idle and lamba sensor on my 97 vw polo 94500miles
    reading 1.04 and high idle 0.53 low idle was 0.31 that passed had new cat last year any advice would be great

    Clean the throttle body and install a new set of plugs (if not already done so) just before the test or retest.
    You might also find a bit of useful info if you input "VW Golf 1.4 Emissions Fail" in the Boards.ie search box.

    Dipetane fuel additive may work - put a hefty amount in - worked previously for me after failing on emissions

    I'd be a little wary, 19 year old engine, it could expose problems with seals and tolerances

    it passed the emissions last week it was the cat i replaced last year cerimic cat are no good got another cat for it

    I was absolutely serious. However it was also a complete brain fart, having been discussing engine cleaning additives (as opposed to injector cleaning additives)
