Extension, retrofit or knock?

I have an old single story extension at the back of my house. It's single leaf
9" block and judging from how cold the wall and floor tiles get, no insulation and I'm guessing no DPC either as I get moisture registering in exposed parts of the floor. Would a damp proof membrane on the floor and EWI help much here or am I simply better off knocking the thing and starting over?

Yes you would definitely be better to knock it and start again. Build it Double leaf, you then have the option to go with Cavity fill Insulation or External Insulation. You can also put Insulation in the Sub Floor. I'd also go with Insulated plasterboards on the Ceiling. Fit a good quality Door and triple glazed window.
don't forget to check if you need new PP for it.

You should have a lovely Extension and be nice and cosy then in it.

Thanks, I was thinking cavity fill if I started over, then maybe EWI on the main house at some stage. The extension is the same width as the main house (it's a gable return thingy), would it be best to build the extension the depth of the EWI wider than the main house so they'll be flush when the EWI is done?
