Male grey hair - how to reduce?

Can anyone recommend a way of reducing the appearance of grey hair without going for a full dye as such?

I started going grey in my early twenties and used to dye it using Just For Men but I realised it looked fake and slightly absurd so stopped.

Now in my forties, I'm going quite grey which is contrasting with my remaining dark brown colour - pepper and salt, I suppose.

    Would appreciate any comments/advice!

Just for men can look quite well if done right. Is it possible you were using too dark a shade if it looked unnatural?

I'm not bothered by grey really but I tend to use a little hair gel to keep my mop under control and it really does hide a lot of the greys.

I use a cheap supermarket own brand water based one because it leaves you hair much cleaner feeling than the more expensive ones.

There is a shampoo for grey hair by Schwarzkopf, called 3D Mension. My barber gave me a bottle of it. It looks fairly black/blue out of the bottle.

Don't know if it works (haven't used it yet), but it might be worth a try.

Embrace it, you've got to 40 and still have hair.

Yes, I've got thick hair in good condition, which I'm grateful for.

My question was prompted by the company I'm keeping at the moment - much younger with no grey! I'm not that bothered but it's just crossed my mind..

Dont use a dark dye, use a dye that will just slightly change the grey.

So if youre dark brown dye it medium or light brown - it wont affect your natural colour but your greys will take the shade and blend in much better.

Started going grey at 15/16. At 42, I've been fully silver for about 15 years. I never dyed it once. I shudder to think how much vanity would have cost me over the years...

I find men with grey hair very attractive. My husband went grey at a young age and it's one of the things I love about him. Embrace it I say!

Grey hair looks good especially if you keep it short, A friend of my husbands who is in his 40s with a good head of hair was forever dying it, looked crap he finally copped on and stopped and it suits him so much better

I read that as 'it's one of the only things I love about him' :D
I agree re embracing the grey OP, it can look really attractive, and dyed hair rarely looks natural.

Could try grecian. My dad used it for years and it seemed to do the trick. Never looked unnatural.

Grey hair doesn't look bad. Men trying to hide it look bad. Embrace the grey.

Good for you I started going grey when I was in my late teens. On a flight to Taiwan (used to be a flight attendant) I decided to get my hair dyed dark brown - it looked terrible and as soon as I got back to Singapore I had the dye stripped & I have never had it dyed since, I am now in my 70s and I am lucky to have very thick, silver/grey but healthy hair!

My OH is older than me, in his early forties, and has jet black hair with a few greys around his temples and sideburns. I love it. :)
