Energia are providing free boiler repair. There doesn't seem to be any strings attached and is open to existing customers. I just logged into my account online and was offered it. Here is the blurb. Whether it's useful. No idea but it's free..

    "Great News!

As an Energia Customer, you have no outstanding balance to pay as they’ve taken care of this for you. That’s right, great cover with nothing to pay!

Furthermore, this really useful policy provides emergency assistance to repair damage or prevent further damage to your home's primary heating or hot water system, ensuring your home is warm when you need it to be!

Boiler and Home Heating Emergency Cover from Abbey covers up to €650 per incident*, to cover call- out charges, parts and labour and, any time of the day or night, there’s a team ready and waiting to provide assistance to you- now isn’t that something to shout home about!

    24hr Emergency claims helpline
    Operates 365 days a year
Your No Claims Bonus on other policies will not be affected if you make a claim
    No excess to pay
Overnight accommodation if your home is uninhabitable"

It is a good offer. But you need to read the small print when they send you though the policy after signing up with Energia. My boiler was too old to qualify for cover according to the policy, so I rang the insurance company to check and they confirmed this. Generous offer if your boiler is (if I remember correctly) under 15 years old, though.

I got this deal a few weeks ago, and my boiler has started leaking, but I guess that rules me out, as my boiler is much older.
Thanks for saving me the hassle.

Considering the lifespan of a modern condensing boiler is often about 10/15 years anyway thats a bloody great offer..

I took up offer last August...on 23rd December, heating went. I got onto Abbey insurance. In order.to.avail of.the service you must have had your boiler serviced with RGI with in the past 12 months and proof is needed. They sent out an engineer and he got.the heating up and running...on christmas eve it packed it again and I rang Abbey insurance...only to be told that I wasnt covered for 2nd visit for a further 6mts plus they also said that the cover is only emergncy to get you up.and running and it's up.to.the customer to get their own plumber in to the problem. I wouldnt be paying for this cover and will be lookomg.else.where

Yes, you need to have your boiler serviced within the previous 12 mths by an authorised company & have documentary proof of same.

God knows what else is in the small print.

I suspect it was free for a reason :)

My boiler hasn't been serviced in hmm ...

I think annual servicing of boilers is a requirement for most insurance though?

Its certainly a requirement to avail of a boiler's warranty.

for me, it worked out fine - took a few calls to get thru to the right people, but once I got talking to them it was arranged and completed very quickly. I didn't have to provide any documentation or proof it had been serviced previously - this may have been because it is under 6 years old though.

    Hi,

Is anyone getting ongoing nuisance calls from the following phone number: +353 0818555222 ?

I've done a quick bit of research and found a couple of websites with people posting saying the calls are coming as a result of registering with Energia and this boiler insurance crowd.

    Thanks

    Thanks,

    G.
