Don't normally care about the pubs on good Friday, it's just a day and we're all aware of it but I do feel sorry for anyone visiting for the football match that night.

I have been reliably informed that the bars in Aviva will be open before and during the match... sshhh though..it's a secret

You only ride after midnight, after you've been to a nightclub?

    Whoa.

Yes, they'll officially start selling at 12, most give it away free before 12 - it's only illegal to sell it ;)

    Bit of a sobering thought

It's funny as El Weirdo says that people always ask the same question each yeah in After Hours :p I reckon we'll soon have the usual "Should alcohol be sold on Good Friday?" thread. With a splash of religious bashing thrown in to boot.

But to answer your question, yes certain bars open from 12am onwards. As they can legally sell alcohol then. Obviously only certain places do it. So best to check out the Facebook pages of a specific bar.

Free hookers and coke wouldn't get me there.

    Dry fun needs social lubricant.

From now on I'm only answering "Yes" to this question. Feck the consequences.

I see a loophole! Gin is dry, they'll have to serve that, I know my rights

    Gordons all round?

Going to Glasgow for Good Friday this year. Coincidence of course...

Most depressing day of the year but you can always buy a couple of bottles of wine on "holy" Thursday, drink them on "good" Friday and get back to normal on Saturday.

It will probably take a few decades for the govt to repeal the good Friday dry laws so you better plan your drinking a day in advance just like Christmas.

Can't say you haven't been warned.

    I'm annoyed.
This is a yearly topic I know, and one which I haven't ever really cared about.
    However
This year, I was unable to take my mum out for Mother's Day, so I promised 'we'll do something the week I'm home' (which is this week). Between one thing and another, one of the only days that's a possibility is of course GOOD FRIDAY.
Fav restaurant #1 isn't open beause it's Good Friday
Fav restaurant #2 is closing early
Fav restaurant #3 (hotel) is open for dinner but won't be serving alcohol!

We're not big drinkers (well, she isn't!) but I'm annoyed. We like to have a glass of wine when we're dining out, and now if I want to treat her for Mother's Day, we can't even enjoy a bloody glass of wine if we so feel like it. Probably get dagger eyes if we order steak too!

Sick of these stupid rules imposed on me!!!!!

(Separate to that, one my favourite pub bands are playing a gig on Holy Thursday, whereas normally they play from about 11 - 1, now they're playing earlier and finishing up at 11 to allow for pub to be cleared by 12! This place would normally be a late bar!)

    Damn Good Friday! :(

Seriously you knew, or should have known when good Friday was and planned around it. Can't you just go for a meal on Saturday?

Shelbourne Park will be open showing the match and the dog racing from Harolds Cross. 10 euro in. http://publin.ie/2016/dont-despair-theres-a-new-way-to-buy-drink-on-good-friday/
And also on Publin, they say that night clubs don't open at 12 anymore.
In recent years some pubs were able to open at midnight. Fibber Magees and The Turks Head used to be able to open, but for the last 2 years they haven’t been granted a license to open at midnight after Good Friday. Unfortunately, it’s the same again this year.
    But more ideas here.
