Covered numerous times, a boards search will find it for you.

I can't be bothered searching to see what other people do, but for me it always seems to be cheaper to transfer here in Dublin* from a specialist (i.e. that place in westmorland st or on o'connel st).

Banks forex shops are bad as are a lot of uk based retailers buying euro.

to me the best rates are:

    1. Online such as tranferwise - needs UK bank account
    2. Irish money shop
    3. Bank card in foreign ATM (Not credit card)
    4. Irish Airport money shop
    5. Irish bank forex shop
    6. UK based forex (I have only used UK post office, dont know about others)

*If not in Dub.. who knows!

Be aware - I use AIB - and havent done that sine they went to visa debit - the BoI website should out line the forex terms. They wont give you the exact exchange rate - thats determined by Visa, but will give you the % amount of additional fees.

    Simple?

    http://www.boards.ie/search/submit/?query=euro+sterling

    Hit #1

Maybe worth a sticky to stop it being asked every few weeks.

Would have have been just as simple to say which than go down that route, though that was expected. I manually searched back 8 pages of posts but a search is useless seeing as it hasn't worked properly since the DDoS mess a couple of months ago.
