    Hey guys,

Does anyone know of a goggle-fitting service provider? I live near Drogheda but work in southwest Dublin.

    Thanks

    Brian

I don't know if I've ever come across a dedicated goggle-fitting service anywhere. Are you talking about regular swimming goggles, or some kind of specialised ones, or prescription goggles? Mostly I try go to a decent sports shop where they'll let you take pairs out of their boxes & try them, in an attempt to find the right ones for me (it's tricky mind!).

A quick google also throws up lots of guides for choosing the right fit.

Yeah just regular goggles for pool training and a couple of pool-based triathlons. I was wearing speedo futura biofuse but using them recently (only developed in the last two weeks), they keep letting water into the right eye. I can get over it when training but I can't use them in race as it'll constantly be on my mind and distracting. I switched to a pair of speedo merit which work brilliantly but don't give me the same field of vision. I've tried shortening the lengthening the strap on the fusion to try to get them to work but that hasn't worked. I much prefer their field of vision but need to be able to try things out in the water and not in a store

Ah that's frustrating re: the leaking. If you were previously happy with the biofuse (prior to the leaking), would you consider picking up another pair? The rubber gaskets don't last forever unfortunately - I use Speedo Vanquishers and am also experiencing periodic leakage, I think just due to wear & tear/age.

I'm afraid I don't know of anywhere that will let you try them out in the water without purchasing. I had a good experience with the swim shop at the National Aquatic Centre - the staff there were knowledgeable and encouraged me to try on lots of different pairs to test suction, fit etc., but I don't think I could have taken them for a test-drive in the pool though! I know it's not a super-convenient location for you since you mentioned your home & work locations, but it could be worth the trip - they also had the largest selection I've seen recently, with a lot more than the usual Speedo/Zoggs you see in typical general sports shop.

Hopefully that might help a bit, but realistically, if you didn't want to get another pair of the Biofuse, you might just have to buy a couple of different pairs and see which ones work. That's what most swimmers I know do - we all have multiple pairs from past attempts to find "the ones" :D:o

Cheers for the replies. Gonna send the wife in to buy a new pair on fusion biofuse in the morning - will let you know the results on Friday!

Sorry for the delay in replying here, kept thinking of it and then forgetting!

New Fusion Biofuse bought and used in the pool and no leaks. Thanks again for your assistance
