Just wondering if anyone else is doing the couch to 5k. I never really ran before and I'm on week 4. Day 1 I found easy enough but today was more difficult but I went faster and further than before. Just hoping I can continue. It gets way harder from here. Also my feet were sore today. Think I need to invest in better runners.

Mags2016 trust me on this, it gets easier from here to the end.

You can see it yourself you are already going further and faster! The key to completing the program is learning to pace yourself over the next few weeks of longer intervals.

Well done on getting started, keep it going! :)

Good on you Mags, well done for getting this far.

Speaking as somebody who has gone through patches of running and then not, I know how hard it is to get up and go do it. Also remember that it's a mental game too. Some days I've gone out and been able to run 5km without breaking a sweat. Days later I might struggle mightily to get to 2km. Once you attain some initial fitness, it's often a lot to do with your head - so stay positive if you can :)

It's definitely mentally harder for me. Physically I'm getting fitter and more able but as soon as I struggle my mind tells me to give up. I just have to keep pushing through that.

Thank you. It's definitely important to stay positive. And some days are going to be easier than others. Hopefully I'll get there. The buzz afterwards keeps me going back for more :-)

There's a big thread here mags but keep at it. I finished it early in the new year and I felt soooooo good after it. Some days are tougher than others but that'll be down to mood/weather/hunger/thirst etc etc etc

Thank you. I'll have a look again for the thread. Couldn't find a recent one :-)

Fair play Mags. I started the c25k 2 months ago and am up to 10k now. As a beginner I've found it's all about learning what works for you in terms of when to run, how far etc. Some days you'd feel brilliant and then another day with the exact same preparation you're blowing hard and wondering why the hell you can't run a few k . Rest is the big thing..once you're bitten by the running bug (I am) it's tempting to go out everyday and see if you can improve on the last run but an injury is the more likely result. I wish I had done this years ago and gotten the many benefits of running. Good luck with it :)

Wow. 10k. You're doing great. Yeah I think I overdid it at the start going out on consecutive days. Had to take a little break but I'm getting there. Fitness levels way increased and I'm looking forward to running my first 5k. Not quite there yet.

On the days you find it tough just slow down. You don't need to push yourself too much to make gains . Most off all enjoy the runs .

A lot of runners here started on the couch 2 5k program. It's a great way to get into running IMO. The best of luck with the remainder of tg e plan.

Looking forward to reading about it when you do!

+1 to this. I used the principle of couch to 5k (didn't use any apps, just picked a tree or a lamp post and ran to it) when I first started running, but the first year I always asked myself 'am I enjoying this?'. The answer was pretty much always yes so I kept at it. No regrets!
