Westmeath Examiner says it's fatal, no further details at this moment. Very sad if true

Being widely reported online on multiple news platforms that the pilot has unfortunately lost his life. R.I.P.

Yes the pilot died. He ran into difficulties on descent apparently. RIP.

    RIP.

What a beautiful day it was to go flying today. Terrible sad news.

Has there been any public confirmation as to the aircraft type?

I assume this means that the plane involved in the accident was G-BWXV. I am not sure on that though.

Yes, I just learned this as well, I knew him, I've spoken to him a few times, a lovely gent with the right attitude towards safety, it's hard to imagine someone like him crashing. I can assure you, every GA pilot in Ireland is touched by this

no, that wasn't slingsby that crashed, he got a Sephens Akro Laser recently

Flew with him to the Isle of Man a few years back, absolutely devastated by the news. RIP

I go back twenty years with William (Mods he's been identified in todays media). Back to when he was a bus driver with Dublin Bus, we done HAM Operators licence around the same time too.

Then Bill left driving for Dublin Bus to open CQ Communications, everyone thought he was mad. But he proved everyone wrong and made a very successful business out of it.

We both started martial arts around the same time too, he got his black belt before I got mine.

I'm terrified of flying, he loved it.

    Rest in Peace man

From being a friend of Will, i remember when he first started his flying lessons and i encouraged and helped him where i could, you will be missed my friend.

I remember when you bought the slingsby. And remember when you said you were going to get the lazer.

This was his post from last week i think from his facebook from when he first took it for a real flight.
First flight out of Abbeyshrule in PH-LSR Laser Z200.
She is a bit of a wild horse that needs to be tamed but I do like a challenge.

Guys i ask you to please keep this thread clean as i dont want to have to come up and clean it up, Please wait for the investigation to find the truth of what happened to come out as id like as a friend for his name to be kept clean and out of the mud. Im staying out of this until we know what happened.

    Hi all,

Just want to thank you all for all your kind words and at least sharing a bit of history and the time you've spent with my dad until his passing a few months back :(
