Colonoscopy appointment letter

My GP referred me to St Vincents for a colonoscopy a couple of months ago. I have since received an appointment for 9am tomorrow morning. Briefly showed to GP recently and was prescribed klean-prep etc which I am due to start taking shortly. However, on re-reading the letter this morning, it doesn't specifically say that the appointment is for a colonoscopy. It is for the surgical clinic but doesn't give any indication of exactly what it's for e.g no mention of preparation, what to bring, not being able to drive afterwards due to sedation etc. I had assumed all along that it was for a colonoscopy but now I wonder if it's just a consultation. As it's Sunday, I can't get talking to my GP or anyone at the hospital that csn help (I've tried). I don't want to go through the klean prep if I don't have to. Anyone have experience of this? What did your letter say? Thanks

My husband had one recently in Clane. The first appointment was with the consultant and around 4 weeks later he got the letter saying how to do the clean prep.

Thanks for this. That might make more sense.

Give the main number in Vincent's a ring. They should be able to confirm that the first appointment is with consultant or otherwise

Unfortunately I had already tried this and they couldn't help. I've managed to get in indirect contact with GP earlier and the recommendation is to proceed with the prep for a colonoscopy.

Just as an update, the letter wasn't for a colonoscopy - just a consultation. Thankfully, although I do have to have a further test, it's not a colonoscopy and won't require use of Klean prep again. Also, consultant suspects nothing serious wrong with me so all good :)

    Thanks for your responses yesterday.
