Job hunting help

As I've been in college the last number of years I'm out of the loop on how job hunting works these days so I could do with some advice on this.

I seen a job advertised which didn't give much away in the job description and didn't give any indication of salary. The name of the company was in the ad and their contact details. I got in touch with them and asked them to give me more info on the job and salary, I told them my level of education and experience, they replied and said that it would be discussed at interview stage.

Any jobs I've been looking at have a complete job description and some, not all have hourly rate of pay. I am a bit reluctant to send my cv to a company for a job that I know little about and possibly go for an interview to be told they are only willing to pay minimum wage.

Is this how it is out there and should I just suck it up?

I wouldn't go for an interview without seeing a job spec first. Sounds ludicrous.

Definitely not the norm that's for sure.

Most companies will have an initial phone interview to gauge whether yours and the companies expectations are close enough to take it to the next level.

    Thanks for that.

Yea the job spec was very brief. No mention of a telephone interview unless that comes up after a CV sent.

I don't have the time nor can I afford to be going for interviews just to find out about the job. Will have to keep hunting!
