Staining on brickwork

    House build around 1975. Brickwork had this red staining which we would like to clear up.
    We have tried several brick cleaners, from sika to bleach!
    Have found some good results from powerhosing...literally with hose about 2inches from brick...alot of effort which I wouldnt mind but before doing this wanted to see if anyone had any other thoughts.

    South facing wall at gable end of house.

    Looks like Lichen - get some copper sulphate to it (from gardening supplier) and then power hose it off once it is dead.

    Thanks merrion. Had found lichen before from a builder and this seemed to die off from bleach. The red staining seems to not go anywhere.

    I will get some copper sulphate today.

    The issue you have is efflorescence and I previously found a great explanation of it here which I find easier to post than try and regurgitate
