    Hi everyone,

First time buyers, looking for our first home. Any advice of the areas listed below, that we are looking at would be appreciated.

    South Dublin:
    - Cabinteely (The Oval, Gleann an Rí),

    North Dublin:
    - Portmarnock (Seabrook Manor, The Kilns, Station House, The Links),
    - Malahide (Mountfield Park, Waterside Grove/Park)

    Thanks in advance

Are you enquiring about the area or the development? If the latter, do you have a particular type of unit in mind (apartment, duplex ...)?

In Gleann Na Ri it would be duplexes. In The Oval and The Ramparts it would be apartments.

I suppose just management company, quality of build (ie can you hear neighbours talking), fire certs, sinking fund, break-ins etc

For the price of a 2 bed apartment in the Links you'd get a 3 bed house in Kilbarrack much closer to the DART station.

    Portmarnock http://www.myhome.ie/residential/brochure/66-millbank-the-links-portmarnock-county-dublin/3253665

    Kilbarrack http://www.myhome.ie/residential/brochure/61-swans-nest-road-kilbarrack-dublin-5/3494340

IDEALLY come the otherside of the traintracks if you can in Kilbarrack on to the Briarfield road side.

Mountfield is a lovely estate. Tucked away and quiet but finding on street parking can be tricky.
15/20 walk to the village. Keep in mind that it's uphill.

Estate seems to be well maintained. Always looks well.

Waterside is about a 15 min walk to Swords and 30 min walk to Malahide. Nearest dart station is Malahide.
The 102 (and 142 i think) bus stops outside the gate. The swords express stop is about 10 min walk away.
The M1 motorway is closeby also.
Its a large development with building ongoing for apartments and duplexes. I am not sure if they plan to build more houses.
It seems to be largely rented accommodation with a maybe 50/50 mix of Irish and foreigners.
The development is safe and well maintained and there is a shop and creche.

We bought last year on Chapel Road between Portmarnock and Malahide.

Absolutely love the area. Malahide Castle two minutes away. Portmarnock beach 5 mins away. Howth a few minutes away. 30 mins to town (Dart and buses galore)
