Ispiri do nice alloys as do 3sdm. The 3 sdm are a little common at this stage though. At the end of the day it is down to personal preference.

I have the old A6 alloys on the same golf, look very well.

Looking at the rs6 ones for an upgrade though.

    No, 5x112.

If it were me I would buy original wheels, there are plenty to choose from. You could easily fit up to 18's, or bigger.

Sure putting 18" wheels on a golf that's supposed to have 16" wheels is that any harm

    No harm.

Putting 18" replica wheels that weigh close to twice the weight of an OE wheel, that's a different story. Car will feel less responsive, handle worse due to the higher unsprung weight of the wheels. Plus if it's a small engine car it won't feel as lively.

There are some nice 16/17" OE wheels from the tsi models.

Work TE37s look great on the MKV, expensive new but they're very popular and aren't to hard to find second hand in good condition.

    I went from 14s to 15s on a mk 4 golf.
The car wasnt as comfortable on the bigger wider wheels/tyres.
    Not too bad but noticeable.
The car stopped better and less wheelspin because the tyres were 20mm wider but handling wasnt as good. the car under steered a lot more

If you go from 16s to 18s you will be going a lot lower profile with the tyres , comfort will definately suffer , They are also dearer tyre to buy and are liable to get damaged easier on potholes and kerbing.

The other thing ill say is inform your insurance company you are changing alloys . There was a poster here who had a story about a man who bought a car new on steel wheels. Put genuine alloys on it a month later. Had a claim denied as they werent fitted from day one and the poster never informed them.
