N84 - Galway to Luimnagh

Noticed what looks like a new, offline stretch of road being built on the N84 just south of Headford, today.
Anyone got any more details of this scheme?

There's a 4.5km scheme for that road that went to Tender last year.

Not before time, too....one of the worst sections of that entire road.

Oranmore/Athenry councillors calling on TII to upgrade the N84 from Galway to Luimnagh. Unclear if they want a bypass of Ballindooley.

Most of the issues I've seen have nearly always been between Ballindooley and Cloonboo. If they managed to widen the road from Ballydooley to Cloonboo, it'll make a massive difference - esp. if there was a break down or a horse and trap....

If they could get the widening out to Corrandulla Cross, then they'd only be a small section beyond that'll need looking at just before the new section at Luimnagh.

Can't see any of it happening though...
