VRT export refund

Has anyone exported a car recently and claimed VRT back? I have a few questions. I'm in the middle of doing it but have run into a few difficulties. I brought the car in for a VRT export examination to the VRT centre. I believe the OMSP they listed is undervalued. They have the OMSP of my S2000 down as €5030 but I'd put it at closer to €7000. Is there any way to get it checked or revised? also the VRT rate bracket was listed as being in the lowest bracket (14%) but it should be in the highest bracket (36%) due to the emissions being greater than 225g CO2. Is there any way to get this checked and updated?

Between the 2 issues, it brings a refund from €600 to roughly €2400 so I want to get it sorted!

If you put the same car in for VRT import calculation whst figure does it give there?

Is your emissions figure actually on the registration cert or is it Unknown on the cert?

Unsurprisingly they give about 50% of the import value

    Are you sure.
Everytime I checked, import and export value on the same kind of car was the same.

They even abandoned charging €500 fee.
I think fee is much lower now.

I have not checked for a few months but of the many many checks I have done, revenue use identical figures for both import and export apart from the €500 admin fee

Edit: yes only €100 fee now

hmm maybe its changed but I got about 1000 back for my 03 m3, the vrt at the time was about 2.5k.
    - its actually 2.1 now

The emissions is down as 999 on the vlc. The car is not available on the vrt calculator. Basically the info they have given me is trying to refund as little as possible, whereas if I was importing the car I know they would try charge as much as possible!

Strange that they are trying to put it a 14% when the 999 figure on the vlc puts it in the 36% bracket. Have you contacted revenue about it as opposed to the vrt centre staff?

I might be wrong but I suspect that if no proof emissions exists them they charge the maximum rate and if exporting they apply the minimum rate. it would be possible otherwise to import a car with a COC at a low rate, lose the cert then export it at the top rate.
do you think you could get something from Honda to confirm the emissions of your particular car?

I am in the process of getting Honda to write a letter confirming the emissions. I have emailed revenue and they confirmed that I have to process the application with supporting documentation regarding the emissions and I will have to appeal the OMSP price afterwards.

You are correct that if they is no proof of emissions they charge top bracket rate when importing but lowest bracket rate when exporting.

I'm in the middle of this after selling an evo 3 to the UK. They came back with a refund of 360 after the previous owner paying 2200 vrt back in 2010. I am as well into Mitsubishi to try get them to give me a letter of the emissions so I can get 36% which would be 1200. Still not great. How do you appeal the omsp ?

Proof of cars sold I'd say. I'm going to try get a letter from Honda stating trade in value too

I can't see Honda go in you any sort of valuation tbh.
