    Hi all.
I tried to find some shop where I can get some legacy components , such as resistors and capacitors, but bar crazy priced Maplin and Radionics found nothing. Where you are getting things ?

Most of that stuff would be online now.
    It's a specialised market.
There used to be Chip electronics in Cork and Peats in Dublin but both are gone now although Peats are still online I think?
I used to get them out of old circuit boards but even that is hard now with surface mounted components being so small.
Have a look on ebay as well
    example:

It depends on what you are looking for and how many. Some of the online sources ( http://ie.farnell.com/) like Farnell are quite good but it is best to know what you are searching for before hand. The prices with Maplin always seem to be on the high side but that's their market.

ebay, aliexpress (but nothing where you would be depending on standards for safety, like mains voltage stuff), or farnell if it's over €30 worth (free delivery after that).

Farnell is surprisingly good (pricewise) for some stuff.

http://www.donberg.ie/ eclectic mix of older parts in stock

http://cpcireland.farnell.com/ can be a lot cheaper than Farnell (go figure)

    What sort of components ?

Modern resistors are way better than the +/- 20% noisy carbon ones from the valve era.

Electrolytic caps vary, but one thing that people have done is remove the contents of an old cap and put the shell over a smaller modern one, so you still get the look.

Some things aren't made any more for a reason as there are better modern alternatives. Unless you are looking for valves or germanium or other specialised stuff it may be worth considering alternatives, but check the specs first.

    Indeed.
You may also get suggestions from adverts in magazines (if they are still published!) like Electronics Mags/Radio Mags.
You would only find them in larger Easons and the like

CPC tends to deal a lot more with the TV/Video/CD/VCR repair businesses so it might be easier to find tuners and other RF stuff there.

Farnell, from what I remember, deals more with design/development/production so you get a lot of specification paperwork with each order.
