Overpresurised boiler

Accidently put a load of clothes on watch switch in hot press and it overpressired the boiler. When the heating came on it starting pouring water out if what I assume is relief valve, (weird smell off that water too). Now that I copped it I can't get water to repressure the tank as it just keeps coming out the valve. Is there usually a reset?

Post a pic of the valve that you accidentally activated and also the gauge

That's your pressure relief valve. Unfortunately, once this opens once it's usually fecked. Its internal on your boiler so you'll need a Rgi to replace it. Depending on the boiler it shouldn't be an expensive fix. If it suits, get it fixed with a boiler service and they'll only charge you for the part.

Dumb question but whats a boiler service generally cost? With bord gais and see they have 3 levels 99€ 135 and 159. Just ring and tell them whats wrong?

Ring an independent Rgi. A service will cost around 80/90 euro. If you post your location then somebody here might be able to help you out.
