Got one of those MXq streaming boxes and it's become unusable on Virgin 240mb......when I got it first a few weeks ago I was getting around 8mbs which was more than adequate for streaming or browsing .....now lately speedtests are showing under 1mb and even worse .01 mbs....what the hell is going on with that

Have you tried resetting your box and the router?

Yeah have reset both.....oddly enough it seems worse when streaming from a pc in another room using Airstream app.......when the pc is turned off I get around the 8mb over wifi

There could be a competing channel in the vicinity or the PC could have been hogging capacity. What Wifi router are you using and how far is it from the MXQ? Is the PC nearer? Are you on 2.4GHz or 5.0? Can you check the performance using other wifi devices next to the MXQ box?

Router is a Thomson Twg870 and it's on 2.4ghz .....pc is in an upstairs room Mxq box downstairs ....beside the pc is a digisender/xbox controller both on 5.8ghz.......I have a Sky on demand connector beside the Mxq box that seems to work on a good signal

I have disconnected all of the above and a bluetooth dongle see if it improves with no luck

Those Android boxes usually have very poor wireless antenna's/chips built in.

If you were only getting 8MB on the MXq box it was a pretty marginal connection & now its gone marginally worse which means you are probably seeing large packet loss & latency issues.
Have you used a wireless channel program, on the MXq box, like WiFi Analyzer to see what channel is free & signal strength to router?

Get a set of homeplugs, these Android boxes really need a wired connection

Homeplugs send a radio signal through your electrical circuit

So you power one through ethernet from the router and the other through the MXq box with no running wires? sounds like the solution

Exactly. Essentially it's using your home's mains wiring to transmit the data. It's a lot faster than wifi usually. Not sure how it compares to ethernet but it should help a lot when using wifi.
