Why is St Patricks day full of Irish tricolour flags when he is the patron saint of Ireland the island not the country.
If you search on ebay for st Patricks flags all you get is "Eire tri colour flags" which is a disgrace given Ulsters close historical link to the story of St Patrick.

Ehh.... There's quite a few up north (i.e. in Ulster) that would consider the Tri-Colour their flag as well.

I dont think St Patrick had a flag when he came over here. If he did it would have been a welsh flag.

Flegs ? ask the Ivory Coast
It's amazing how colored bits of fabric get people so excited they want die to protect the wealth and power of people like Charlie, Bertie, Enda, Gerry, Bondholders etc.
    - Whatever gang of the month/year that's in power.
You have to hand to politicians for coming up with the idea of getting people to chase flags and do anything for them.

You know that party snacks and canapés have to be approved by the Buffet Commission as having traditional and cultural significance

I doubt St Patrick wore an oversized green floppy hat either.

I think that the ones who get annoyed by that sort of thing would be even more annoyed if they sold the Tri Colour and Flag of Union attached to each other and using Paddies flag would confuse the tourists as they'd think we were using England's saints flag. So to keep the peace we should just fly the flag of Union as that has St Patrick's flag incorporated into it.

It's a flag, it's grand, it will be forgotten about on Saturday morning anyway when they're covered in gawk and left thrown on the footpaths.
