Front Door Broken Down.

So my front door just got broken down. :( 1 year old child locked herself in the house and I was down the country. Fire brigade was called and they decided to break open the door. AXA said that "No insurable peril caused the damage to your door".

So what next? Has anyone got an easy fix? Would a carpenter be able to sort it? I have the lock back on it and it closes but need to fix it properly.
I'm almost resigned with having to replace it which is €€€, like everyone, something i can do without.

Get a half dozen long screws. Maybe 4 inch long. Screw them in the side of the door. This will pull in the splintered part. It might not look brilliant but it would do the job. You might be able to clean it up afterwards with sandpaper & varnish.
Carpenter will make a neater job if you want.

Is it broke all the way to the outside. It can be fixed and will be still good and strong.

Thanks lads. It's broke all the way through but its the lip of the door that closes into the frame and can't be seen from the outside. Screws hopefully will sort it, mite give it a go myself.

Glue it aswell if your going to screw it.

Pre drill the holes with a skinny drill bit. It's a pilot hole we're thinking here, it'll stop you splitting the wood. Use Philips head screws & use a screw gun. Borrow one if need be.

Do you have to pay for the fire department, for a call out? That would be a killer having to pay the guys to bust up your door

    + 1 on this
It's not half as bad as it read in the op I expected to see half the door in a smithereens on the floor
Pilot hole the cracked piece then glue ,clamp and screw it back together. Some filler and a bit of sanding then re varnish would have it back good as new. A neat carpenter would have it fixed in few hrs and unnoticeable ( to a lad on a galloping horse passing by)
