light, short sleeve tops

I'm considering a light, short sleeve top, one that falls in between a jacket and a gilet, is ideal for spring temperatures, and adds some wind and shower protection. Some examples are the Castelli Perfetto (just released, lighter version of the Gabba) and the Sportful Fiandre Light Top. Any thoughts on this type of top, or on any specific ones? This kind of top is in vogue in the peloton at the moment. Here's Niki Terpstra winning Le Samyn recently, wearing a Vermarc version over his jersey and arm warmers:

Have the fiandra light jacket. It's ok in a heavy downpour of a few minutes but in light rain if any duration it gets saturated. I'm assuming the top would be the same. Also use an altura transformer. It's a good bit cheaper than sportfull / Castilli stuff and has good windproofing. It's ok in a light shower. Likes of gore do them as well. P.s the altura isn't as pro a fit on the arms as others you mention

Not as stylish as the castelli / vermarc prokit but planet x have something similar from AGU

I have the Sportful Fiandre. Bought it back in the depths of winter when I seen it on offer, not always easy I know but you can get some great bargains buying out of season, i.e. now's a good time to buy winter gear if you can.

It was still in the packaging until 2-3 weeks ago, have worn it on every cycle since. Excellent piece of kit, light, offers good wind protection on the front and more breathable at the back. Haven't been caught out in rain yet so can't comment on shower protection just yet ... this weekend should change that.

The sleeves are almost elbow length which I like, much prefer it over a gilet. There's a fairly high neck collar, well lined with a softer material, very comfortable zipped up fully when starting off on a cooler morning then can be opened out a bit as you warm up. I'm expecting to get plenty of use out of it over the months ahead.

Just found the top you are looking at, without ettixx logos

Looks similar to the agu above. Personally i find a good gilet and armwarmers is sufficient for most cases where it is too warm for a jacket and too cold for just a jersey.

I used a short-sleeve Gabba a lot last spring, often with arm warmers. Found it perfect for the weather. The new Perfetto I'd imagine would be great too. I've been using a long-sleeve Gabba 2 all through winter and still now as the weather gets marginally better.

I also just bought a Castelli Sottile Due vest for when I think it might rain but I don't want to wear a jacket or anything. Might be of interest too.

Can't fault Castelli products at all.
