Your payroll people should calculate and refund it to you starting with the paycheck on which you no longer need to have emergency tax claimed. This might not be the first check after you turn in all the requested paperwork; they sometimes need time to put it through the system. This means that you'll have a paycheck that is more than usual because of the refund, and then you'll go back to the "normal" rate and stay there.

If the OP has his/her P45, then s/he is no longer employed???

I'm assuming the P45 is from the last job and the OP is paying emergency tax because the initial new-job paperwork wasn't all in order. I see what you mean, though. I guess the OP will get last years' overpayment back soon, and the part that applies to this year will be refunded next year.

Read the OP, they worked until January.

OP, send in your P60 for last year to Revenue and request a balancing statement. They will calculate and issue any refund up to 31st December.

For this year, you can't claim it back unless you are not intending working for the rest of the year.

No mention of new job by OP

When you get your P21, your tax will have been worked out on that, and will tell you how much of a refund you are entitled to and then you will get a chq from revenue

Requesting a P21 2015 from Revenue is you asking Revenue to review your pay and tax details for 2015. If any refund is due for 2015, it will automatically issue to you.

Regarding 2016, if you have a P45 from January 2016 and you aren't currently working, complete a form P50 for 2016 and submit it to Revenue with your P45 for a refund any overpaid tax in 2016. Keep in mind if you are on Jobseekers Benefit, that is a taxable source of income.

Do Revenue process P50s this early in the year? They used have a great big disclaimer on it that you couldn't claim unless you knew you weren't going to be working.

And that was before JSB was taxable.

Just sign up for PAYE anytime and then request a balancing statement - should only take a couple of days to process

No disclaimer, just the normal four and eight weeks time restrictions as per the below link.

    Hi,

I requested my balancing statement online 6 weeks ago. I just received a letter from PAYE that confirm me my BIC/IBAN but I didn't received any payment.

    What should I do?

Is it the current tax year or a previous tax year you are talking about?

Drop a note via my enquiries to Revenue to see what the story is because whatever the result you should have got a balancing statement.

How long does it take to relieve a p21 from revenue when you requested it from myaccount. I requested it 2 weeks ago.
