All are safe when common sense is used. Was in Bangkok during a time when the government here was advising against travel (announcement was on day we flew, after we'd checked in) and it was perfectly safe.

Pattaya is probably great for a lads trip but I detested it. Biggest risk is to sexual health.

When getting into taxis, make sure the meter is turned on.

In bars check the price of drinks first. Some operate a system where you pay at the end.

    Keep your valuables safe.

All common sense stuff been there 11 times never a problem.

I have been several times and its perfectly safe once you adopt the normal common sense. Pattays is an absolute dive - I know they are trying to clean it up so don't know how far they have got with that. Bangkok has gotten dirtier and smellier in the last few years! :)

MAke sure and use condoms with the prostitutes or you might end up with a bad disease, some of them have all sorts, watch out for the pick pockets

Be very wary of pick pockets in pattaya, i've lost count on the amount of wallets stolen from tourists
Also if you're going to have sex with a woman there, check down below or you could be in for a nasty surprise

Are you sure you want to go to a country that's a military dictatorship? Apart from ethics of supporting the dictatorship financially, I'd also imagine you'd have a tough time getting fairly treated if you end up having to deal with police or going to jail after some high-jinks.

If you don't mess with drugs you'll have no issues with the police. The biggest industry is tourism, its perfectly safe but like anywhere in the world you need to keep your wits about you. Most places in SEA are politically unstable but it shouldn't stop people experiencing the cultures in places like Thailand and Vietnam.

OP if your doing three weeks as a lads holiday, hit up the islands, Bangkok and Phuket are grand for a few days but you need to get to a couple of islands. Phi Phi is only an hour or so from Phuket, spend a few days there to break up the madness.

Don't bother with Pattaya, it's a sh1thole and a the dodgiest place I visited in Thailand. There's nothing there you cant get in Phuket/ Samui (from a lads holiday perspective)

Don't go all that way and not visit Phi Phi, it's a class spot with great nightlife on the beach

Keep you wits about you in Bangkok. It's safe enough but a there's a lot of scam artists about. Tuk tuk drivers in Bangkok(especially khao san road) and a bit dodgey. We used them a good bit but they are apparently run by the mafia. You can get a reputable taxi on either end of Khao San for cheap

And whatever you do, stay the fuck away from all drugs while you're there. I know a lad who arrived and on his second day in Bangkok, he bought a gram of weed off a westerner and was immediately arrested in a set up. They took a 4 grand bribe off him but if he didn't have that money, he was getting locked up

Thailand's a great spot. Obey their laws/respect their culture and you'll have a cracking time

Oh and wrap up if you happen to get lucky, seriously!

Honestly so safe in Thailand. Common sense is all you need and don't listen to people encouraging you into tuktuks because something is closed.

Scams are your main danger. Also don't fight anyone or every Thai nearby will pound you.

Thailand is very safe, as mentioned above just use common sense.

Use the meter for Taxi's in Bangkok (mentioned above)

I don't use a wallet over there, instead just keep cash in a zipped pocket at all times - never had an issue (been there 5 times now)

Pattaya isin't my thing, only stayed there to get a flight the next day... an experience, but one I wouldn't be bothered about seeing the place again.

I was never in a place in Thailand where you pay per drink; you run a tab and pay at end, so ALWAYS check prices beforehand. If you're in a place you don't feel comfortable about being over-charged, just keep the menu at your table so you know the costs. I never had an issue in Bangkok, but I think it was Pattaya I had some extra charges added to my bill (ie. charging for 5 beers instead of 4).

From a safety point of view; I felt safer walking on the streets of Thailand at 2am than I did Dublin.

    Have a good one.
