Any fix for door handles (outside) 03 Focus?

Anyone ever sort this one out themselves?

- Door handles (outside) on a 03 Focus are acting up.

Hard to describe on here but you basically need to pull on handles hard a number of times and then some mechanism eventually 'catches' and the door opens.

Researched this online but people just say oil them and they'll be fine - This is seems to me to be more about mechanism wear than simply a matter of lubrication. ie. don't think this will work in my particular case etc.

Anyhow - Thought someone might know, thanks

It's usually the linkage bar flexing inside the door. Take off the door card, and put a zip tie around the bar(it's basically a thick wire) about midway down and some other part of the door to support the linkage so that it can't flex.

- I was slow to go pulling off door cards just for an uneducated, clueless poke around.....
