    best FREE video editors? can you name any? Windows Movie maker is not that good

    If you consider using Linux there are a few well specced and capable NLEs available to you.

    If you google Linux video editors you'll find them, there a couple that have Windows versions as well which might help.

    OP, do you have Windows 10 on a laptop with a camera connected?

    If 'yes' ->

    press the click the window button on the taskbar and choose 'All Apps'.

    Look for 'camera'.

    Open this app, and you have a free basic video editor - Click the camcorder icon.
