Road bike newbie - recommendations please

    Hi,
I am hoping to purchase a road bike on the bike to work scheme. Up until now I have only ever cycled mountain bikes so I have limited knowledge of what would be considered a good road bike.
I would like to keep the cost within the €1000 limit. From browsing the Internet the bike that has stood out to me is the 'Liv Avail 4 2016' which is retailing at about €750. Would anyone recommend this bike?
I will just be cycling it as a hobby, generally not doing max. 40km at a time once or twice a week, however I have been roped into a 100km charity cycle this summer so I would need something that would be suitable for the occasional longer distance cycle.
    Thank you in advance ☺

You may get other recommendations, but the bike you mention is quite suitable for what you suggest, and as a known brand, will always resell if you decide cycling is not for you, (or if you decide it really is for you and you want to upgrade).
I would suggest maybe looking at the next model up (avail 3) or even a 2. These come with carbon composite forks which will be a bit more comfortable on longer spins.
Either way, get it and use it. Enjoy.
