Couldn't find a post for this so I just decided to make my own.. has anyone else gotten results back yet?
None of my friends are doing a portfolio so I'm dying to talk to someone else who's done one! I've applied for viscom in IADT, DIT, cork, and art in LSAD :)

Update: Got my results back from DIT on 16th

I got my result from DIT. I'm just wondering if passing the required portfolio score guarantee an offer in August. I got 350/600 for both Interior & Furniture Design and Fine Arts. In 2014 I did my LC and I got 330 so that's 680 total points (350+330=680) Does anyone know if there's a good chance of getting in with this points or do they base the offer on how high your portfolio score is? Cause I heard quite a few got nearly perfect portfolio scores and it kinda worries me.

I'm fairly sure once you have the points required you're eligible for an offer in August? I dont think your portfolio score on its own is taken into account once you pass, just the two put together (LC & portfolio) Its not guaranteed that you get an offer though.... I think...?

Haha nootnoot1 I've been watching this damn website for ages tryna find someone talking about it! I've gotten DIT and LIT back, I really like LIT but I want to do viscom and I'm afraid I won't get it in 2nd year and will be stuck in something I dont wanna do D:

I'm the exact same about Limerick, absolutely loved it when I visited but I want to specialise in fashion which they were saying is the most competitive and hardest to get into. I really don't want to be stuck specialising in something else I don't really like. Still waiting on results from NCAD, I think they'll be out this week.

Somewhere on the DIT website it shows the points range like the way it is for normal cao. I think they were around 600 all together when I checked before but you should double check :)

By rights NCAD results should be out ASAP this week, but really I wouldn't hold my breath; the last two years they've come out the first few days in April. Hoping the next few days though!

I rang up NCAD today and she said the letters were getting stamped as we spoke! So hopefully, tomorrow? At most Friday I'd say. Let me know how yous all do

Hopefully, they arrive Thursday! The waiting is the worst. I just want to know! Didn't apply to any other colleges only NCAD which probably wasn't the greatest decision on my part. What's the pass mark for acceptance does anyone know?

The letter from NCAD arrived today. Now all we need to do is to pass the Leaving Cert.

Was offered a place at NCAD, scored 712 on my portfolio which I'm delighted with

Have you guys decided where you'll be going to? I can't decide between NCAD, IADT and LSAD..I wanna do VisCom but I'm afraid I won't get it in my 2nd year and IADT is the only college where I wouldn't have that problem but I think I got a low portfolio score there-only 300, where as in NCAD I got 813 and 480 in LSAD

I'm really split too, completely split 50/50 between NCAD and limerick. I wouldn't worry too much about not getting you choice specialization; I think its pretty rare to not get your first choice. What are your pros and con's for each, really want to know what others are thinking, in the hope it will help me choose between ncad and limerick!

It's so hard to choose right?!

I really like limerick but the only doubts I have about it is the city itself and the student social life there. NCAD has a much better location and being in a big city like Dublin gives you more opportunities, you can go to museums, art shows, it's easier to find the material that you might need etc. What I'm not sure about ncad is whether it'll be too much people for me to fit in. And the last thing is the accommodation. It's harder to find a place in Dublin and also more expensive. So yeah, I still haven't given you any useful information.. Maybe choose the college that is closer to you, I'm not from Ireland so that doesn't help me in any way but staying close to home has its benefits :)

I probably prefer limerick as a college, but I'm the same about the city and nightlife aspect. I live in Dublin so I suppose it makes more sense to go to ncad, but I have my doubts about the college's facilities and standards. I like the idea of living away from home, but it'd be more expensive plus I have a part time job here I'm Dublin that I really enjoy. So yeah, very split and its gonna be tough for me to make my decision

What about ncad's facilities and standards? And would you say that limerick is a recognized college, like is it known?

Basically NCAD used to have an excellent reputation, but this has deteriorated rapidly over the last few years. Their funding has been cut, there is a lot of overcrowding, and first year has been more than doubled in size with no extra staff. Many of the facilities/classrooms are very old and in a poor state; also they had to cancel the glass making course about two years ago as the kiln broke and was never replaced. Apparently there are also problems with tutors, with students barely seeing them and sometimes not having one. So essentially, it has gone very down hill.
LSAD has a good name and its reputation and regard is constantly improving, especially over the last few years with the problems NCAD has been having. NCAD probably still has that kind of name and reputation of ~ooooh best art college, can't believe you got in~ effect on people, but people in the know would probably suggest that now DIT, IADT and LSAD are probably better colleges.

Got 685 in Ncad and 500 in DIT. Besides picking between an Art course and a non Art course, I'm also stuck but between NCAD and DIT. I went to the open day in DIT Grangegorman and the facilities looked amazing. I was talking to some of the lecturers on the tour and they were quite convincing. In DIT you dont have to pick your one area in Second year- you can move from one area to many throughout your degree.. which was fairly appealing. There is tonnes of space and Brand New MAC rooms and Photography equipment ( Im not much into either but they said that NCAD's equipment is kind of ancient). Its a new building refurbished like 3 years ago on a brand new campus close to the city centre. It seems to have more facilities gym sports societies etc than ncad- prob just down to the size of the place. Oh and another main point is that it is 4 years long.
My doubts for NCAD is its only 3 years (seems super short to me and like they are pushing you to do a masters!!) The protests with regards the ownership/ president and over all running of the place- no studio space more students etc. BUT it does have a better name. But i guess your work should say more than the name of the college you went to.
    What do yous think??

Im not going outside dublin, but LSAD has a really high reputation. If anybody is debating, I have a friend in second year print there and she loves it. My art teacher is constantly praising it- its set to take out NCAD in rankings in the next couple of years. The only reason it isnt is because NCAD is a 'university' and not an IT.

    Anyways.

I was talking to a girl in LSAD and she said that her friends in NCAD weren't very happy with the course, as well as it being short... :O
I'm stuck between LSAD and IADT... I love both, and IADT is better apparantly, but finding accomodation in Dun Laoighre will be so hard and super expenseve :L I'm kinda worried about the social side of it too, Dun Laoighre seems kinda quiet!
