    Hi,

Has anyone experience in Sto Silco Render? Due to the silicone resin is it supposed to be better then many renders on the market and offer resistance to algae and fungus growth?
Trying to work out the cost benefit of this vs. paint.

I have it on for nearly 10 years and this year is the first time that I have seen algae growing on it.
I think the algae is because the algae on the roof was being blown down and into the wall from the storms and bad weather we have had for the last 5 months.
Algae is easily removed with some bleach and a light powerwashing.
The difference between this and paint is that this has a nap finish not a smooth finish like you get with paint.

What's the maintenance/ wash down frequency Sto require for their guarantee?

I didn't even know there was a guarantee!
    I never washed it down.

I got it put on last year on our house (renovation). It's only on a year, but so far so good.

I found the Sto technical rep to be very good and extremely helpful. We are delighted with it, as it really lifted the house.

However, ours is only a light skim over an existing plaster. It is easy enough to scrap off with ladders/tools/etc. But on a new build it would probably have a better grip.
