Bulletproof older estate

Any recommendations for slightly older estate cars? Particularly in relation to reliability. For us Fords are out. We're also considering the Rav-4. Mileage could be 25k kilometres a year.

Is the 2.2 d4d engine in older Avensis and Rav-4s problematic? I've been warned off the Rav-4 because of the 2.2 d4d engine.

Extras aren't that important for the right car but cruise control and bluetooth would be helpful.

Budget 7k tops. I understand an older car will not be bulletproof but we are going for reliability.

Volvo V70 D5 is pretty reliable.

Id get the older model 1.8 RAV4. Diesel ravs are full time 4wd and are prone to issues. There wouldn't be a lot of difference mpg wise over 25k between a well worn D-4D and the diesel is taxed as 2.3
You won't get cruise control on 95% of Irish rav4s.

If you can get a minded 1.9 TDI Octavia estate I'd go for that, it's much more refined and spacious than a Rav4. There are plenty bad ones out there so don't automatically try and get a post 08 or the cheapest ones,
I30 1.6 CRDI estate would be good too.
